If you can afford it get onto eBay and look for a Hoyt gold medalist, it is a above entry level bow and would last you years, Hoyt are one of the best bows you will get, but to be honest you need to go down to an archery shop and have your draw measured (distance you pull) and also your draw weight. cant remember what mine is off hand.

I got a Petron starter kit complete with Butt and stand, as a brthday pessie a few years ago,It's great fun and gets draged out every summer. remember you need a bit off space to do Archery. We have 3 acres round our place, lost a fair few arrows aswell.

My bow is a left handed one, but I can use ether. Many of the outdoor activity centres do hour or half hour Archery lesons..... well worth it .

Anyone know if a Starline Sirius is any good as a starter bow? Also, any idea what a realistic price for one is?

i have done archery for the last 15 years best place to look is in archery shops google archery shops uk , what sort of bow are you after there is longbow, recurve bow and compound bows.
longbow all one piece made from different laminated woods, shhots wooden arrows very basic but not as easy as you think i have shot one of these for the last 5/6 years.
recurve has 2 seperate limbs which fit into a riser, then has sights a v bar long rod and 2 smaller rods for balance, then you have compound this has the 2 wheels on, one top one bottom, plus sight mecnaism, a good recurve starter set up about £100. compound setup about £200/£250, longbow £100
then you will need arrows on top. very easy really....... most clubs will do archery courses where you can learn then use there bows for a couple of months..hope that all helps

The one I saw today is a recurve, I'll see if I can get it for less than £30, more than that I'd be as well buying a new starter set?

That's what I'm thinking, but don't want to pay too much.

i found mine in a skip at my dads i just had it restung
needed arms like heman to use it but i was pritty good
not used one for a few years but it ripps ya finger the first few times
