flexible mdf??

H&S warning

the bendy was to make pretty well er bends,plan is remove rear quarter plastics,then 15 inch sub then 2 6x9s each side,i hadn't thought of fibreglass,is it fun to do??

Be carefull mate, we are NOT allowed to use interior grade MDF at work, as it contains formaldahyde,( a cancer risk )ask if it's available in exterior grade, wear a face/dust mask at all times when machining this matrial.

It's pretty easy to work with. Just make sure you buy loads of latex gloves and loads of disposable brushes.

do you have any plans for your enclosure..??

Ive jus built an enclosure for an 18" 1000W sub in the back of the surf..nothing fancy mind, just a wedge shaped box. I used 18mm MDF screwed, glued and sealed with 'sticks like shit'. The baffle board will be doubled up with another piece of 18mm when i get round to it as ive seen (properly amped) subs rip themselves out of 18mm before now.

With ref' to the plans, i dont see 'bendy' MDF being of much cop for x2 1KW subs..unles you layer it substantially. You would be better looking towards a glass fibre construction..??

anything flexible will be no good for sub boxes!...

you want a good quality ply to mount the speakers.

2 suppliers my company deals with. Have personally had the flexi 6mm mdf from DHH.

Dunno if they'd supply just one sheet though - I piggy back my orders on my works order and pay cash.

Void free marine ply is generally accepted to be better than mdf for sound quality, but mdf is a lot cheaper and easier to machine. I'd happily use mdf for a car sub.
