technically everything you said is true popeye, why he's selling them as showplates. It's not uncommon. There's a guy goes to my local market everyweek doing exactly the same thing. Even the MOT stuff is probably true, but if it's a sensible plate ie) proper size, fonts, and spacing most testers will probably let them through. TBH it would be a copper on a really arsey day or a vehicle inspector on a stop check that would take the matter up.

Am i just being awkward or dont you have to "see" the registration document before you make replacement plates??, just had a new front one done and the guy had to have the form before he'd make one, otherwise it's open to the false plate market, and the mot bloke said they have to have the small "kite" mark embossed in em otherwise their an mot fail, (or was he talkin b0ll0ks)
nice idea tho, would'nt mine some logo'd ones meself
