  • Brakes acting strange....

    Hi all,
I have been off here for a long time & had to get rid my 2nd gen....Damn good truck anyways 3rd gen is juddering when braking & kind of worrying...
Will clean everything off today & replenish fluid but anyone have any ideas (Pulling a little to the left but thinking tracking instead of stuck caliper)?

Thanks in advance & all the best,

    R.

Obvious things are a bent or warped rotor. Check the front wheel bearings to. It could also be a caliper issue. Brake fluid tends to absorb moisture over time, and if not changed the pistons may get pitted, A piston may fail to retract properly, makes the pad sit uneven against the rotor and when breaking can give you a shudder.

shuddering can also be caused by brake pad deposits on the rotors. check both sides of the rotors for black spots. you can remove them by using medium/fine grit sand paper

Brake disks were the culprip ...but failed mot due due to lack of use of handbrake (not much need of it here)...automatic so didn't think about using it all the time, worth using it to keep it in good shape. Lesson learned.
