New to the forum and I’ve, sadly, come with questions and problems.

To start off, a good mate has bought a lovely LN165 2L-T Hilux.
It was great for the first 20 mins, and it’s all of a sudden lost a lot of power.

He has had many people look at it, doesn’t really know it’s history, and they have all led him down the wrong path. Between new turbos, new fuel tank and new turbo sensors it’s still not fixed it.

In an attempt to get it right, I’ve taken it onboard to try and suss it out. So far we have found a broken LDA diaphragm which we have temporarily repaired while waiting for a new one to arrive, but this also didn’t fix it. Timing belt looks relatively new, and new tensioner also.

we’ve removed the injectors, had them tested. All okay apparently. I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions, guides or ideas on where next? I’ve been told the fuel pump itself has a filter in so will most likely check that next. Does anyone have some suggestions?

Any help appreciated!

I want to try and see if anyone has any known problems or experiences, aswell as guides or manuals for said LN165 2L-T.

I’m in the process of checking the timing, then will move onto injectors and compression. But is there anything anyone on here has experienced themselves?

Website fixes / hack today

The software that the forum runs on is some software called vBulletin. A choice made to run the site on this long before I got involved and took it over (or saved it from being turned off more specifically!). Anyway once in a while someone decides to hack every install of vBulletin around the web (lots of other websites as well as ours) and yesterday sods law it got hacked so apologies it was offline for a few hours today.

Apologies to anyone who has tried to contact me but hasn't been able to get through. 99% of the emails sent through the contact form are spam and as such I didn't see some genuine emails. My bad entirely. I've updated the contact page with an email addess which should reach me if there's any membership issues.

In the short term I'm pausing anyone signing up for brand new premium memberships in case anyone has problems as I don't want people paying their money and not getting their upgrade...!


Still a Hilux Surf owner!!

I'm still very much a Hilux Surf owner.

2nd gen 1993 1UZ V8 swap (done myself)
1st gen 1989 with a 1KZ/T, 3rd gen intercooler

Becoming increasingly hard to keep them on the road due to availability of parts (ANYONE GOT A DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL ARCH FOR A 2ND GEN!?!?!?!) but determined to keep going!!



This site was due to be switched off when I took it over and pleased to say I'll be making every effort to ensure it stays up and running. The premium memberships just about cover the cost of keeping it online so thank you all for your support past and present.
