  • MPG Conundrum… or help!!

No, not the usual mpg query. This time it’s a different one.

I’ve finally got my surf back on the road after the head went, but here’s a little teaser. Before the head went and broke itself, I was getting 25 mpg – now, after the replacement head, new fuel filter and new air filter, the mpg has dropped to 21! I can’t understand how or why.

Any bright – and useful – ideas greatly appreciated
    Dave

Get your diesel pump re-timed as it could have been moved and not set up properly.

I honestly don't think it's that as there's no other symptoms, no smoke, no loss of power, no funny noises etc - just more trips to the petrol station lol

Thank god for this thread. I was all confused, as I have Just had my head done and she runs real nice but uses more fuel.
I suppose I'll just have to sit back for 1K miles and wait.

                  Thanks to all
                  Mike

HA - see it's not me being paranoid - the wife already thinks I'm daft over my baby... err that's another story.

anyway I'm off to wales twice this week so that should help it a bit - or cost me a fortune lol
