and it said it would be here by 22nd of Aug but was here by the 20th so good service I thought , I did have to pay import tax though , about 14 squid but when I tried to get one in UK they all wanted in excess of £150 and that was untested, so it was still cheaper , it got here in about 6 days from California.

No Ultimagtr21 ,there is no one near by that I could try the ECU, are people still doing these conversions after us lot, I mean it got up to I think XIII ? didn't it and then B waker left the forum after yours and another guys messed up trucks. I thought that would be the end of any conversions?

does either of yours have the brake servo right above cylinder 8 or is it just that mine is an old 1990 LN130 and the position is different on both your trucks? What I need is 2 elbow joints and then the plug socket, but they have to be 3/8 as the 1/2 inch elbow joint wont go down the sparkplug hole.
I'm determined to get to it somehow, but am now thinking if the problem is electrical and that plug ends up being ok then it's sensor problem or like you said poss ECU, if it's not electrical or fuel related then there is clearly something expensive wrong, I don't see how it was ok when I parked up then next day it was running terrible ?
After mine, there was sadinn's (XI) then deviousd's (XII). Then he was converting one of his own trucks for stormforce, which I don't think he's finished yet and as far as I know he's got someone else's that he's converting. He had IX for nearly 4 years unfinished - I think it's now being done by Overfab. Interested to see that when it's finished.

Wow that is a long project, 4 years with a vehicle in your garage is a long long time especially if you want to work on your own truck,
Alex I hope it gets to you in time mate, I was happy with the service they gave.

Ultimagtr 21, Is Overfab a guy here on the forum or a specialist firm ?

managed to get to No 8 cyl plug yesterday eve and it was ok but when I tried it against the head and turned engine it did not fire, neither did No'3, or 5 when I took that out so now it seems all plugs running off of the drivers side coil or distributor are not firing , as I swapped the coils over it made no difference so could be the distributor ?
Never taken that off before is it hard job, I didn't remove or inspect it when I did the timing belt about 4 years back. Is there a tutorial anywhere ?

Was the dizzy cap and rotor arm replaced when you had the conversion done?

Yes Alex it was PF, I had a letter in the post by Royal mail from PF and had to go into town to the main area (mine is Bath) Post Office , pay "by cash" they don't take card ,a fee for import but it was like I said still cheaper than buying a bashed about one from a UK scrapper.
I think I found a tutorial for changing the distributor and rotor and even be able to check out the cam pos sensor, but thanks mate , I will try to PM you with my email address as it might come in handy anyway. Are you having trouble tracking it , because I did, once it gets to the UK and has gone through the international sort then I could track it with the number the seller gave me.

Ultimagtr21, no the distributor cap and rotors are I think the same that were on the old Lexus car when I got it from some guy in Northampton, probably the same ones that were on there when the car was new ? Are you thinking it could be the distributor/rotor worn Ultimagtr21 ?
I'm so hoping it is not the cam sensor as they look to be quite expensive and if it is that I might as well change the distr/rotor at the same time. In fact I haven't spent much time or money on the III for several years now and he could do with some new plugs as well so looks like I have to flash some cash on the old beat.

I'm actually having no problem with tracking and quite impressed so far, has only been a few days and it's already at Heathrow lol looks like it'll be here on time

So it's probably done silly miles on what could be the original distributor cap and arm. I would change it and the rotor arm first and see where it gets you.

Glad to hear that Alex, with any luck it will soon be at a major PO near by.
There is def a difference in service in USA as service here, I phoned up about a used MAF at a breakers advertising on ebay and he couldn't even tell me if it was still on the car they were breaking, so he said "will phone back" and never did, another I phoned said the same , he didn't phone back either so I phoned him and then he told me 180 squid was the best he could sell a UESD MAF from a 1993 LS400, and even then could not tell me it had been tested but had come off of a running car,,yea when was it last running , poor poor service and these company's wonder why they are loosing customers ?

Yes I think you are right Ultimagtr21, chances are it has never had the coil packs or the distr/rotor changed on either bank of cylinders, and when I got the LS for the conversion it was already on aprox 150,000 miles I have put another 50 on top of that I guess, and this is the first time I have had the plugs out even, bit bad in a way I know but I'm a get in and drive it person, don't do any 4x4 playing, and only got it done to tow a small fishing boat I own as the 2.4 Turbo D blew it's self up. So certainly needs a change of caps and rotors and plugs

Maf came today, collected from the PO earlier, just fitted it and its and improvment on the broken one (thank god) but its not night and day in terms of acceleration, my revs idle in gear lower than before but ill see how the MPG goes on monday when i drive to the campsite

That's not bad service is it Alex all the way from California as fast as it would be from a UK scrapper. Hope it keeps the truck going mate, safe journey .

                                Finally got it sorted.
I ordered another coil off of ebay last week put it on (making it 2 new coils) and the thing runs sweet as , strange how both coil packs gave up at the same time ?
I have ordered a distributor cap and rotor because I think the one on the left bank is worn , I don't know if this would have made it harder for the coil to work or perhaps help it to fail ? also going to treat it to a new set of plugs.
Thanks for all the input guys, was great help.
