I gave up the Surf, as the fuel cost was crazy, as I do 25,000 miles a year.
To my amazement, the wife decided to have it, rather than her Daewoo 1.6!
She (the Surf) has been trundling along, still part of the family ever since.
The tailgate has finally given up the ghost (again) today, so researching a fix, brought me here again, to my astonishment that I last posted in 2008! Eeeek! How long have we owned her?

    Long live Surf's!
Lifes for smileing at! when ya Surf's not broke!

I know the feeling, I first joined here in 2004 when I bough my original 'Smurf' and wrote about it in the now defunct '4x4 Mart' magazine.

I then bought a Discovery when I wrote for, wait for it, the now defunct 'Land Rover World' magazine - there's a theme here isn't there?

I now have Deux Smurf, our second, which is a 3rd Gen, and I now have my own 4x4 website!

BTW Boo Crew, I'd forgotten that you're a Bolton lad too!
